Connacht Final Wednesday 2nd March 2011 Terryland
Summerhill College Senior Soccer team recorded a thrilling Connacht Final victory over the reigning All-Ireland champions, St. Mary's, in Terryland on Wednesday 2nd of March.
Both teams played some fantastic football, however, few clear cut chances were created and the game ended 0-0 after 90 minutes of regulation time, followed by 20 further minutes of extra time
Despite the lack of goals both sets of supporters had enjoyed a high quality game of soccer and waited with bated breath for the penalties which would decide this enthralling encounter. In the end Summerhill had the decisive edge, converting all 5 spot-kicks, with the Summerhill 'keeper, Vinnie Cadden, saving the third penalty from the opposition.Congratulations to the whole squad. The next challenge will be the All-Ireland semi-final against the Ulster Champions, St. Patrick's College, Cavan, on Tuesday 8th of March, in Ballybofey.
