Summerhill College

On January 5th 2010 the Summerhill College community was saddened to learn of the untimely death of Rev. Eddie Moore.

‘Eddie’ as he was fondly known to all had been both a student and teacher at Summerhill College. A noted broadcaster on local radio and English language announcer on Vatican Radio Eddie was renowned for his silver –tongued delivery. In the college, he was extremely popular with staff, parents and especially with students. An indication of the man’s popularity was the number of weddings of past pupils that he officiated at.

Eddie was involved in every aspect of college life. He taught Religious Education and English, edited the college magazine and produced the college timetable for several years.

Prior to his death, he had been parish priest of Hillstreet, Co. Roscommon.
