Ugandan Trip
English teacher, Ms Breege Mc Gowan will spend four weeks in Ghana this summer helping to deliver a Higher Diploma in Education module to native Ugandan teachers. This is part of the Global School Room programme. The programme will be delivered to those aspiring to teaching there and the particular students have already completed other modules.
Some Indian teachers, who have earlier completed a three year cycle in their home country may travel to Uganda for the particular module, Ms Mc Gowan is associated with.
Another Sligo based teacher accompanying Ms. Mc Gowan will be her friend and former Summerhill colleague, Ms. Colette O’ Hagan, who is Principal of Mercy College, Sligo. The two ladies intend to do some fund raising for education in Uganda before their departure so donations will be gratefully received.
Last year, Irish teacher, Ms Elaine Mc Goldrick spent her summer in Ghana, assisting in an orphanage there.
