Bronze Medal at Irish Maths/Science Olympiad
Summerhill student Tanzeel Ahmed became the first ever Summerhill student to win a medal at the Irish Science Olympiad. Tanzeel qualifed for the Junior Olympiad on the basis of his Maths/Science results in the Junior Cert this year.
Two other Summerhill pupils, Ciaran Mc Closkey and Mohammad Rasheed also qualified as a result of their excellent performances.
Out of one hundred and six students who qualified for the national Olynpiad, Tanzeel finished in seventh position.
The top six students will feature on the Irish International Olmpiad team and Tanzeel is a reserve on that team which will travel to the World Junior Olympiad to be held in Nigeria.
