St Alan’s first Year CSPE class raised over €800 for the Sligo Bay RNLI.
The Class answered the international SOS RNLI appeal on the 28 of January 2011. Their fundraiser was a Swim in the sea on the coldest sea temperature day of the year.
The crew of the RNLI Sligo Bay boat done safety on the water. After the swim the students walked to the RNLI lifeboat station. In the station the students were given hot soup and tea and a tour of the station and boat.
At the end of the tour the students could tell you that The R.N.L.I. in Sligo have over forty volunteers.
The boat is a B Class Atlantic, has a crew of four, has a length of 8.5 meters and can travel a max speed of 35 knots.
