Senior Gaelic tean win Connacht League
The long awaited Connacht College’s Senior A League final took place on Wednesday May 11th. Summerhill College were once again pitted against St. Jarlath’s of Tuam. Mr Conneely’s charges went into the game in relaxed mood but were still anxious to gain revenge for the provincial championship final in which they felt they underperformed.
Summerhill competed from the start and thanks in large part to a goal from Eoin Doherty Summerhill went in on level terms with St. Jarlath’s. Despite the fact that they were playing into a strong win in the second half the Summerhill boys put in an amazing team performance to pull away from the Tuam kingpins. Patrick Heraghty scored two goals in the second half The final scoreline of 3-6 to 0-10, while convincing did not in any way flatter Summerhill.
This was history in the making as it was the first time for Summerhill to win the Senior A League title. Congratulations to each member of the squad on a marvellous campaign and to the team’s coaches, Mr. David Conneely and the ever present Mr. Liam óg Gormley.

Construction and Demolition
Staff and students returning after the Easter holidays were met a very changed landscape in Summerhill. The work includes excavation work on the foundations of the new building project as well as demolition on the opposite side of the road.
The ball alleys, which had been an iconic feature of the college campus for generations of students had been levelled to make room for the foundations of the
temporary accommodation block. The gateway to the old building has been considerably extended to make room for the big lorries and construction equipment, which will be using the access point during the construction process. Arrangements are being made for the decamping from the main classroom block, which will be demolished after the state examinations are completed.
